Where is Cagayan de Oro? It is also known as the City of Golden Friendship is the capital of the province of Misamis Oriental, the regional center for Northern Mindanao. A youthful city compared to various highly urbanized cities in the Philippines, Cagayan de Oro has a census of at the time of 460,000 in 200,000 families. Originally chartered as a city as “Cagayan de Misamis,” its identify was eventually transformed to “Cagayan de Oro” in recognition of the gold mining routines in the area known to Spanish explorers. It serves as base for both local and multi-national companies, including Del Monte Philippines, Nestle, Coke and Pepsi.
